Pre-planning
Your legacy is important. We can help plan it.
Pre-planning your natural burial is a gift to your family, your loved ones, and the earth.
Call or email us to discuss your personal wishes and any questions you may have. The best way to learn about our natural burial ground is to speak with us and take a guided tour of the preserve.
We pre-plan for many important life events from our careers to marriage to retirement. Death is a life event as well, and while we cannot plan for the moment of our passing, we can plan for how our bodies are cared for after we pass. If you’re reading this, you are considering your options and taking an important, proactive step.
Pre-planning protects your final wishes and your family’s comfort in honoring them. Pre-planning also allows you to protect both ecological and financial resources for your family’s future.
Resources & Helpful Forms
Educating yourself when making important life decisions is always paramount.
We recommend to all of our clients that they complete several important State of Texas Advance Directive forms, compiled on the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Central Texas website. Unfortunately, most Texans do not know these forms exist.
Part of our mission is to help educate and empower Texans facing end-of-life decisions. Completing the Advance Directive forms (and specifically the Final Disposition Authorization forms) and then letting your family know is perhaps the most important step you can take in pre-planning.
Funeral Services
Our cemetery staff are happy to work with any funeral director your family chooses. We are also happy to recommend funeral directors who are skilled in natural body preparation for green burial.
The Green Burial Council also provides a national list of Green Funeral Homes.
We also respect the wishes of families who choose to care for their loved one themselves. If you’d like more information on home funerals, please visit the National Home Funeral Alliance and the Funeral Consumers Alliance.
We also have answers to common questions on our FAQ page.
Caskets, Urns and Shrouds
Green Burial allows the body to return to the earth in a natural and dignified way.
We permit body and cremated remains interments in natural, biodegradable containers. Common choices are linen or cotton shrouds, untreated wooden caskets and urns, and cardboard or woven fiber coffins. In the State of Texas, families are not required to purchase a casket or urn through a funeral home. Here are a few respected fabricators and retailers.
