Our goal is to become the first certified conservation cemetery in Texas.
OUR MISSION
Nature's Burial is dedicated to establishing conservation burial cemeteries that will preserve and restore natural spaces and in so doing, will celebrate life in a meaningful and lasting way.
Nature’s Burial was organized as a venture of the Coastal Prairie Conservancy, an accredited land trust which has conserved over 32,000 acres of coastal prairie habitat in Southeast Texas, including over 18,000 acres of protected land on the Katy Prairie Preserve.
The Sanctuary
The natural burial grounds of Blazing Star Sanctuary occupy nearly 8 acres within a critical conservation area of the Katy Prairie Preserve. This area has been designated as a Globally Important Bird Area by National Audubon, and provides habitat for resident and migratory birds, pollinators, and a host of other wildlife that depend on the coastal prairie.
The burial grounds are part of the greater grassland and wetland restoration efforts of the Coastal Prairie Conservancy to restore degraded pasture, enhance wetlands, reestablish native grasses and wildflowers, and create publicly accessible trails at a new visitor access point, the Blazing Star Prairie, located at 31930 Morrison Road, Brookshire, Texas.
